Timothy Mahoney, MD

Timothy Mahoney, MD, is the Director of Electrophysiology Lab Operations and practices as a clinical electrophysiologist in the Cardiovascular Medical Division at Morristown Medical Center. Dr Mahoney specializes in multiple areas of electrophysiology, including atrial fibrillation ablation, ventricular tachycardia ablation, intracardiac echo, SVT ablation, left atrial appendage occlusion, and cardiac pacemaker and defibrillator implantation.

He was the first physician at Morristown Medical Center to perform left atrial appendage occlusion (Watchman/Amulet) placement and the first to implant a leadless pacemaker. In addition, he has been a Site Principal Investigator and/or operator participating in several trials that have contributed to the advancement of atrial fibrillation ablation.

After obtaining his Bachelor of Arts with honors from University of Notre Dame, he obtained a Master of Science from Medical College of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann University. He then received his Medical Degree with honors, from UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School. He then served as house officer in the internal medicine department of Yale New Haven Hospital and performed 3 years of cardiology and 2 years of electrophysiology fellowship at Cleveland Clinic. He has authored peer-reviewed publications, has been a member of the professional organizations Heart Rhythm Society and American College of Cardiology, and is a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
